Driver Improvement School

Check the driver school information sheet you received in court to see which class is required. Your options will be the Attitudinal Dynamics live classroom; Defensive Driving live classroom or Online Defensive Driving class allowed which requires judicial approval. Live classes fill quickly, so register early. All classes must be completed at least 3 days prior to your supervision end date. Please print your live classroom payment confirmation and bring it with you to class.

Online classes are taken at your convenience, available 24/7 but must also be completed at least 3 days prior to your court return date. You must print your class completion certificate and bring it back to court at the end of your supervision.

Defensive Driving (DDC6)

Live classroom format: $95 / online: $95

A comprehensive course designed to give students the practical knowledge and techniques to avoid collisions and traffic violations. Two successive three-hour evening classes; or online with court approval.

Attitudinal Dynamics

Available as Live classroom ONLY: $95

A behavior-based advanced course recommended most often for drivers with multiple violations and those with poor driving habits. One six-hour Saturday class (English class) or two successive three-hour evening classes (Spanish class).

National Safety Council All classes are certified by the National Safety Council and meet six-hour court supervision requirements. For four- or eight-hour classes required for other jurisdictions, call at (630) 285-1121.

SECRETARY OF STATE REMEDIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

The DuPage Driver School classes do NOT meet a requirement for a Secretary of State-ordered remedial class. See the sidebar for more information.

Please note that classes offered by the DuPage Driver School are the only classes officially approved to meet court supervision requirements for the DuPage County, Illinois 18th Judicial Circuit. Students may register themselves for both classroom and online sessions. Be sure you register for the class that is required by the court. Before you begin the registration process, you must have the following information:

  • Your full name as it appears on your driver's license
  • Complete CURRENT address
  • Driver's License Number, if any
  • Birthdate
  • Case Number (example, 2013TR012345, no spaces or other characters)*
  • Court location*
  • Arresting/Ticketing Agency*
  • End of Supervision Date (next court appearance)*
  • Credit card information is required to purchase an access code for the online class option.
  • Classroom sessions do not require immediate payment, but Money Order is the ONLY form of payment accepted on the day of class. Cash will only be accepted at the office during regular business hours M-F, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Debit or Credit card payments may be made by phone M-F, 8:30 - 4:30, or during online registration process. Personal checks are never accepted.

If you need to reschedule a class, the class you need is full or no class is shown with a date prior to your end of supervision, you MUST call the office during normal business hours at 630.665.6530 for assistance.

NOTE: Our classes meet requirements for traffic court supervision only.  If you need to take a class to reinstate or prevent license suspension for the Secretary of State, you must take a remedial class offered only through the National Safety Council as designated by the Illinois Secretary of State.  You can call the NSC for more information or to register for a remedial class at 800.822.7009.  You may be required to take both classes to meet both court and Secretary of State requirements.  It is the student's responsibility to ensure the correct class or classes are completed in a timely manner.

*If any of the above information is missing or unclear, you can find court related information at the Circuit Clerk's website BEFORE you register. Incorrect information used in the class registration process could result in your class completion not being recognized by the court.
